Personal Deposit Account Agreement
The Deposit Account Agreement is the legal contract between you and Neighbors First Bank. It governs the ownership, operation, and closing of your deposit accounts, along with your rights and responsibilities as an account holder.
Key provisions summarized:
- Account ownership — individual, joint (with rights of survivorship or tenants in common), trust, POD, and fiduciary accounts are supported. Ownership determines who can transact and who inherits the account.
- Signatures and authority — the person(s) named on the signature card are authorized to transact. Signature cards are updated in person at any branch.
- Deposit acceptance — Neighbors First may accept, reject, or place holds on any deposit. Deposits made at ATMs or by mobile deposit are provisional until we verify them.
- Posting order — Neighbors First posts credits first, then debits. Debits post from smallest to largest within each business day.
- Statement periods — most personal deposit accounts have monthly statements. You must report any errors or unauthorized activity within 60 days of the statement date to preserve full protection.
- Account closure — either you or Neighbors First may close an account with reasonable notice. On closure we mail any remaining balance by check to the address on file.
- Dispute resolution — most disputes are resolved by the bank's complaint process. Arbitration and class-action provisions apply as described in the full agreement.
The full Deposit Account Agreement is available at any branch and can be mailed on request. Call (312) 555-4100.
Funds Availability Policy
Our policy is to make funds from your deposits available on the first business day after the day we receive your deposit. Cash deposits and electronic direct deposits are available on the day of receipt.
Standard availability
- Cash deposits at a branch: same business day
- Electronic direct deposits (ACH, wire): same business day
- Check deposits at a branch or ATM: first $225 next business day; remainder the second business day
- Mobile deposit: same as branch/ATM check deposits; higher-value checks may be held longer
- Business-day cutoff: 8:00 PM CT for mobile deposit; 5:00 PM CT for branch deposits; 3:00 PM CT for weekend/holiday ATM deposits
Longer holds may apply when
- The deposit is greater than $5,525 on any one day
- You redeposit a check that was returned unpaid
- You've overdrawn your account repeatedly in the last six months
- An emergency (such as failure of communications or computer equipment) occurs
- We have reasonable cause to doubt collectability
- You have opened your account within the past 30 days
When a longer hold applies, you'll receive written notice with the reason and when funds will be available. Generally the hold does not exceed the seventh business day after the deposit.
Electronic Services Agreement
This agreement governs your use of Neighbors First Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Bill Pay, Zelle®, and account alerts. By enrolling or using any of these services you agree to the terms below.
- Access credentials — you are responsible for keeping your username, password, one-time codes, and device secure. Do not share credentials with anyone. Neighbors First will never ask for your password.
- Authorized transactions — transactions made through your credentials are treated as authorized. Notify us immediately if you believe an unauthorized transaction has occurred; timely notice protects your rights under Regulation E.
- Regulation E protection — for unauthorized electronic fund transfers on a consumer account: your liability is capped at $50 if you notify us within 2 business days; $500 if within 60 days; potentially unlimited after 60 days. See the full agreement for details.
- Availability — Neighbors First strives for 24/7 availability but may schedule or unscheduled maintenance windows. We are not liable for losses arising from temporary unavailability of electronic services.

- Information from your transactions with us (account balances, payment history, card usage)
- Information from consumer reporting agencies (credit history)
- Information from third parties (identity-verification services, fraud databases)
How we use and share it
We share personal information as permitted by law for:
- Everyday business purposes such as processing transactions, maintaining accounts, responding to court orders and legal investigations, and reporting to credit bureaus
- Our marketing purposes to offer you Neighbors First products and services
- Joint marketing with other financial companies that jointly offer a product with us

How we protect your information
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards. Access to your personal information is restricted to employees who need it to provide products or services to you.
Security Practices
Neighbors First uses layered security to protect your accounts and personal information.
- Encryption — all Online Banking and Mobile Banking sessions use TLS 1.2 or later; account data at rest is encrypted using industry-standard algorithms
- Multi-factor authentication — new device or high-risk logins require a one-time code by text, email, or authenticator app
- Biometric login — Face ID and fingerprint supported in the mobile app; credentials never leave the device
- 24/7 fraud monitoring — every card transaction is scored in real time; suspicious activity triggers an automated hold and a text to confirm
- Instant card controls — freeze/unfreeze, set limits, block merchant categories, and disable international use from the mobile app
- Positive Pay — business customers can prevent check and ACH fraud by pre-authorizing every item that posts
If you ever suspect fraud, call our 24-hour line at (312) 555-4160. We will never ask you for your password, PIN, one-time code, or full card number.
FDIC Insurance

- Individual, joint, retirement, revocable trust, and business accounts are separate ownership categories with independent $250,000 coverage
- Deposits at Neighbors First covered by FDIC insurance include: checking, savings, money market, and CDs
- Non-deposit products offered through Neighbors First (investments, insurance, annuities) are not FDIC-insured, are not bank guaranteed, and may lose value
